SCSKK is a research oriented bio-venture company aiming at realizing regenerative medicines (cell therapies) using as cell sources human embryonic stem cells and somatic stem cells. Together with Stem Cell Sciences plc in United Kingdom, which has research facilities at Edinburgh in Scotland, UK and Melbourne in Victoria State, Australia, both are well known as areas which lead stem cell research in the world, we, SCS KK, strive to undertake our research and business at the heart of Kobe Medical Precinct which is also the center in Japan of research for regenerative medicines.
Based on the intellectual properties licensed to SCS KK in Asian countries by SCS Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary in Australia of Stem Cell Sciences plc and also on those acquired by ourselves through the collaborative researches with several Japanese research institutes, our company has been compiling the basic technologies in the field of cell therapies and at the same time providing customers with the products and services in the fields of gene analysis, cell research and drug discovery. Such products and services include the manufacture and sales of particular kind of mouse cell plates, the sponsored research for preparation of certain mouse functional cells, etc. and will soon include human functional cells, as well.
The current targeted diseases of our research in the field of cell therapies include diabetes that use somatic stem cell that can differentiate into pancreatic beta cell in addition to muscular dystrophy, serious cardiac insufficiency, obstructive arteriosclerosis, ischemia, etc. that uses human multipotent adipose-derived stem (hMADS) cells.
